Gradual South‐North Climate Transition in the Atlantic Realm Within the Younger Dryas

چکیده
The abrupt climate event Younger Dryas (YD) has been extensively studied; however, its structure is still poorly understood. Climate in northeastern Brazil very sensitive to the latitudinal position of intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) associated with change Atlantic. Here, we report changes ITCZ within YD by using precise speleothem multiproxy records from Brazil. We provide evidence for a gradual northward migration preceding poleward shifts westerlies and polar front northern high latitudes YD. This can be attributed increase atmospheric CO2 concentration as consequence weakening Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC). suggest that persistent might have triggered resumption AMOC reorganization atmosphere circulation during mid-YD.

Gradual onset and recovery of the Younger Dryas abrupt climate event in the tropics
Proxy records of temperature from the Atlantic clearly show that the Younger Dryas was an abrupt climate change event during the last deglaciation, but records of hydroclimate are underutilized in defining the event. Here we combine a new hydroclimate record from Palawan, Philippines, in the tropical Pacific, with previously published records to highlight a difference between hydroclimate and t...
متن کاملYounger Dryas cooling and the Greenland climate response to CO2.
Greenland ice-core δ(18)O-temperature reconstructions suggest a dramatic cooling during the Younger Dryas (YD; 12.9-11.7 ka), with temperatures being as cold as the earlier Oldest Dryas (OD; 18.0-14.6 ka) despite an approximately 50 ppm rise in atmospheric CO(2). Such YD cooling implies a muted Greenland climate response to atmospheric CO(2), contrary to physical predictions of an enhanced high...
متن کاملheterogeneity within the orientalist discourse: representation of the orient in womens travelogues and mens paintings
from 1950s onward, new theories and critical approaches burgeoned across humanities. these theories were context-oriented; as a result, the analysis of discursive practices gained significance. thus, social, political, historical and cultural discourses that have been hitherto marginalized and considered inferior to literary texts, were introduced as important texts to be analyzed by critics. o...
Changes in North Atlantic radiocarbon reservoir ages during the Allerød and Younger Dryas.
Estimates of the radiocarbon age of seawater are required in correlations between marine and terrestrial records of the late Quaternary climate. We radiocarbon-dated marine shells and terrestrial plant remains deposited in two bays on Norway's west coast between 11,000 and 14,000 years ago, a time of large and abrupt climatic changes that included the Younger Dryas (YD) cold episode. The radioc...
متن کاملModelling the concentration of atmospheric CO2 during the Younger Dryas climate event
The Younger Dryas (YD, dated between 12.7}11.6 ky BP in the GRIP ice core, Central Greenland) is a distinct cold period in the North Atlantic region during the last deglaciation. A popular, but controversial hypothesis to explain the cooling is a reduction of the Atlantic thermohaline circulation (THC) and associated northward heat #ux as triggered by glacial meltwater. Recently, a CH 4 -based ...
